Its kinda how I am about talking on the phone. Not much to say, unless its important and or on my mind. Anywho lets get to it shall we.

SALAM Islamic Center, Sacramento, CA

The Jummah salah on Friday, was a very simple Khutba, but I think the best Khutba I have heard in a very long time. Not to say that the Imams Khutbas are boring, or irrelevant. Typically prayer usually moves me to tears, but this week. Imam Azeez spoke about out new Mosque and the appreciation we should have for having it. Even just thinking about it now, moves me to tears.

For me who have converted to Islam, it mean the world to us. Its not our culture, we were not born into it, we are not Muslim because our parents are, or because we live in a Muslim country. We take our Deen( Religion ) very seriously. Now that the masjid is almost done it is just beautiful and sit there, and also knowing that I was able to contribute to it. Not millions of dollars, but what I had to give. If I could have paid for the entire thing, Allah knows I would have.

It has been a great life time goal of mine to build a Mosque, and I don’t mean financially, but I mean physically. Lay the bricks in place. Physically more than Financially assist.

So when Imam Azeez talked about appreciation of being in Allah’s house. I was in such agreement with him. Many of the Mosques I have frequented have been warehouses or houses converted into Mosques. Even up until now. SALAM Islamic center was not a traditional Mosque in a since. But now we have one, and the other building is our school and community center.

Praying in any house of Allah is a blessing, rather a house, or building temporarily used. But for me as an American Muslim convert. A Masjid is a big deal. I don’t have any Muslim family. The Muslims I do know become a part of my family. The mosque is where I socialize, hang out, volunteer, pray, learn, and cry.

And what better time than now. During the month of Ramadhan. A true blessing sent from Allah ( swt). Alhumdulilah!

More importantly than talking about appreciation of our Masjid. Imam Azeez discussed the importance of our last deeds. The most important thing you do and will be the heaviest on your scale with be the last thing you ever do. Inshallah, I hope and pray that the last thing I do will be in the house of Allah. There is no better place, or place I would rather be.
