Daguerreotype, (1 box, ca. 1890)
Photograph
A small, hinged case with an embossed exterior contains a daguerreotype portrait of an unidentified man. The inner frame of the case is gilded with an ornate decorative border surrounding the image. The individual in the photograph is dressed in formal attire, with a jacket and cravat. The photograph is slightly faded but remains well-preserved.

Daguerreotype Portrait in Decorative Case
Daguerreotypes were one of the earliest forms of photography, popular in the mid-19th century. These types of images were commonly used for personal portraits and often housed in protective cases to preserve the delicate surface. Given the ornate casing and the individual’s attire, this photograph may have belonged to the Latimer family or a closely associated figure.
