Apparatus for Cooling and Disinfecting, (1 folder, 1886)

This invention, patented on January 12, 1886 (U.S. Patent 334,078), was developed by Lewis H. Latimer to enhance cooling methods by incorporating a disinfecting capability. At a time when new medical science was recognizing the importance of fighting germs, Latimer adapted the existing method of cooling by evaporation into a more hygienic system. The apparatus could be used in homes and hospitals to improve air quality and sanitation.
