Still Life Drawing of a Candle and Teaware

This drawing appears to be an artistic study of everyday objects, possibly created as a practice piece for shading, composition, and texture work. The use of perspective and lighting suggests an attention to realism, which was common in technical and artistic sketches from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Lewis Latimer was an accomplished draftsman and artist, and outside of his work he sketched and painted as an avocation. This still life is signed with his initials, and bears a date that appears to be October 20, 1883.
