This folder contains blueprints, technical drawings, and an incomplete typescript of a signed document relating primarily to Lewis Howard Latimer’s interest in improving elevator safety for passengers. These documents complement other papers, located elsewhere in the collections, in which Latimer proposed technical innovations for preventing the free fall of elevator cars. Latimer never patented these designs. The folder also includes an unrelated pencil drawing, inscribed “Pole line for Mexico drawn by L. H. Latimer,” possibly relating to Edison’s installation of electrical lines there.
