These documents, mostly xeroxes, typescripts, and clippings, appear to have been assembled by Lewis Latimer’s granddaughter Winifred Norman as she pieced together the story of Latimer’s life. They include photocopies of primary source documents that can be found in their original form elsewhere in the Latimer Papers, such as petitions, letters, and reports discussing voting rights, political appointments, and social justice issues. Also included is a xeroxed typescript of Norman’s short “Biography of Lewis Howard Latimer.”

A set of documents reflecting political engagement, civil rights advocacy, and correspondence related to racial equality in public office, as well as a short biography of Latimer by his granddaughter, Winifred Norman, a tireless advocate for bringing Latimer’s life to the public.
