Letter to Lewis Latimer from Louis S. Maguire – November 1898

This letter reflects the personal and professional network of Lewis Latimer in the late 19th century. It provides insight into his social connections and possibly his engagements in New York during this period. The reference to Billy Tucker suggests a mutual acquaintance, and the mention of a hotel meeting implies discussions of either a social or business nature.

Nov., 1898 Dear Latimer, I would like to see you at my Hotel (the Marlborough 42nd St) to-night at 9 o’clock. I wish very much to see Billy Tucker but am unable to find him. Bring him with you if such a thing is possible and oblige your very old friend and comrade. [Signature: (appears to be)] Chauncey M. Depew
