From there, I'll recommend the right next step — whether that's a single consultation, a retainer package, or a research or digitization project.

I research and document your family line back 3 to 5 generations, building an evidence-based report that traces your lineage to enslaved ancestors. This report can be used to support reparations claims, family history documentation, or personal reconnection with your heritage.
You'll receive weekly progress updates throughout the process. Research typically takes 3—6 months depending on the complexity of your family history and available records.

What happens on a Discovery Call?
You share what you're working on, what you've tried and what you're hoping to find. I listen, ask questions and tell you what's possible and how I can help. Then I recommend the next step: a single consultation, a retainer, or a research or digitization project. It's 60 minutes and costs $50.
Do I have to book a Discovery Call first?
Yes. Every service begins with a Discovery Call. It keeps you from paying for a service that doesn't fit what your family needs.
How much does it cost to hire a genealogist to trace enslaved ancestors?
The Proof of Enslaved Ancestors Research Report is $575. Half is due at the start and half before delivery. I research and document your family line back 3 to 5 generations and deliver an evidence-based report.
How long does a research report take?
Three to six months, depending on how complex your family history is and which records survive. You get a progress update every week. An AncestryDNA test is required before I begin.
Can the research report support a reparations claim?
The report is built on evidence and traces your lineage to enslaved ancestors. It can be used to support reparations claims, family history documentation or your own reconnection with your heritage.

Digitization is $300 per roughly 3,000 items, about one medium box, scanned and delivered on a hard drive. The Full Archive Package is $700 per roughly 3,000 items and adds professional cataloging and a digital exhibit your family can open online. Half is due at the start and half on completion.
Do retainer sessions expire?
Yes. The five sessions in the 5-Call Retainer must be used within 12 months of purchase, and the package is non-refundable.
